Northville is a suburb of Detroit in Michigan State, and is the home of Northville Downs racecourse which first opened its gates on 4th August 1944. The 4 furlong oval track, with 134 metre home straight, offers a programme of harness racing and lays claim to being the first harness track outside of New York State. It has the capacity to stable 750 horses, and seat 7,500 people in a large Grandstand and Clubhouse, although the infrastructure shows its age. Whilst it is still operational in early 2019, providing two days racing weekly from February to July, the site has been sold to developers and it is living on borrowed time.
